Literary scholarships 2011 – DAGNY

The Villa Decius Association and Solvberget KF Stavanger Cultural Centre invite writers from Poland, Norway, Ukraine, and from countries in the German-speaking parts of Europe to apply for residence scholarships at Villa Decius in Krakow, as a part of the DAGNY – literary events and scholarships program. The deadline for applications is 31 January 2011.

 

DAGNY, initiated in 2010, is a two-year long international program comprising residence scholarships and associated literary events whose target audience is creative young people from the countries associated with Dagny Juel-Przybyszewska, muse of European modernism. The literary events planned include: literary evenings in Krakow, Leipzig and Berlin, as well as meetings associated with literary festivals and book fairs in Lviv and Stavanger (Norway). The program will conclude with an international literature festival in Krakow which will take place in October 2011.

 

The duration of the residence scholarship is 3 months either from April to June or from August to October 2011. Applications indicating a preferred scholarship period are to be sent via e-mail directly to the below address, to the attention of Villa Decius’s project coordinator.

 

WHO CAN APPLY?

 

  • writers from Poland, Norway, Ukraine, and from countries in the German-speaking parts of Europe who have published at least one book;

 

THE SCHOLARSHIP PROVIDES

 

  • Accommodation at Łaski House, an annex to the historic Villa Decius palace in a beautiful park setting in Krakow (one-person room with washroom facilities and free internet access, shared kitchen: www.villa.org.pl)
  • A monthly stipend of 3.000 PLN (approx. 750 EUR) gross
  • Support from the Villa Decius Association in preparing for the stay, in organizing literary meetings, interviews and workshops as well as networking with publishers and literary critics.

 

HOW TO APPLY

 

Applications including a copy of an identity document, curriculum vitae, a list of translations/ publications, a letter of motivation, as well as a plan for the scholarship period are to be sent via e-mail to: renata@villa.org.pl by 31 January 2011. Decisions regarding scholarship applications will be announced by 15 February 2011.
