The Spring Edition of the Visegrad Literary Residency Program has just begun, and we have great pleasure to host four writers from Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland, who came to Villa Decius for a 6-week residential stay. Let us introduce our guests:
Eszter T. Molnár (born 1976) – writer and biologist, she has a PhD in molecular immunology, she worked as a postdoc at the Max Planck Institute of Freiburg, Germany. She publishes poetry, short stories, novels, stories for children and she also writes for the stage. Her latest novel is Hidegkút (2022). She is a member of kollektiv sprachwechsel (Vienna) and the Belletrist Association Society (Hungary).
Ladislav Šerý (born 1958 in Šternberk, Moravia) – graduated from the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague. Until 1989 he worked in various blue-collar jobs, then as a freelance translator and editor and later as an Assistant Professor of modern French literature in his alma mater. From 2005 to 2017 he was Associate Professor in media studies and Vice Dean for Foreign Affairs at Film and TV School (FAMU). Now he works at the Museum of Czech Literature in Prague. He published a number of translations of contemporary French literature and philosophy (Antonin Artaud, Georges Bataille, Raymond Queneau, René Daumal, Jean Genet, Michel Foucault, Jean Dubuffet, Jean-François Lyotard and others) and six of his own books, including: “Laserová romance” (“Laser romance”, 3 parts: 2005, 2008, 2009), “Nikdy nebylo líp” (“It’s never been better”, 2016), Opilý spolužák (“Drunk classmate”, 2022).
Lenka Nagyová (born 1992) – translator of Hungarian literature into Slovak. For five years she worked in the Slovak diplomacy. So far, she has translated novels, e.g. István Kovács and Orsolya Karafiáth. In Krakow, she will be working on the translation of Anita Harag’s collection of short stories, entitled “Évszakhoz képest hűvösebb” (“Rather cold for this time of year”). She loves hardcore music. She spends a lot of time between Budapest, Rimavaska Sobota and Bratislava and Prague.
Marcin Dymiter (born 1971) moves in the field of electronic music, field recording and improvised music. He creates sound installations, radio plays, film music, theater performances, exhibitions and public spaces. He is the author of the Field Notes project, sound maps and music educational cycle Tracklist. Conducts sound workshops and an action that approximates the idea of field recording. He play in projects: emiter, niski szum, ZEMITER, TRYS SAULES, MAPA and other, ephemeral formations. Scholarship holder of the University of Art in Berlin, finalist of the Netmage International Multimedia Festival in Bologna. Scholarship holder of the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship and the Minister of Culture and National Heritage (2011), the Visegrad Foundation (2012). Member of the Polish Association of Electroacoustic Music.
