Another event under the project “Culture in Exile 2023” is behind us. A concert by the ETNO Choir from Belarus, organized by Villa Decius, took place in Krakow’s Jordan Park.
The 21st Visegrad Summer School behind us!
Villa Decius from July 3-12, 2023 hosted the 21st Visegrad Summer School, a unique educational and cultural program aimed at students, graduates, young researchers and professionals from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary, as well as other Central and Eastern European countries.

For many years, we have been cooperating with Polish and foreign universities, accepting students for internships, wishing to gain experience and expand their knowledge of practical issues related to the implementation of international projects and cultural events.
Inauguration of the 21st Visegrad Summer School
We officially launched the 21st Visegrad Summer School, whose themes this year are: human rights, the future trajectory of the Visegrad Group and the skills of the future.
The call for applications for the 20th edition of the Sérgio Vieira de Mello Polish Prize is now open
The Villa Decius Association has begun accepting applications for the 20th edition of the Sérgio Vieira de Mello Polish Prize. Applications can be sent until August 20, 2023.
21. VISEGRAD SUMMER SCHOOL – PROGRAM
In less than a month, the 21st Visegrad Summer School will begin, with the theme of human rights and their presence in the modern world. Among the invited guests and experts are Michael Žantovský. Hanna Machinska, Michal Vašečka, Dagmar Horná, Petr Mareš and others.
Culture in exile. Solidarity Days at Villa Decius
On June 3-4, 2023, the second edition of the “Culture in Exile. Days of Solidarity at Villa Decius” will take place. It is our response to the difficult situation of the democratic opposition in Belarus and the deepening crisis of democratic values and civil liberties in that country. Bearing in mind the figures and efforts of Polish artists in exile, we invite Belarusians – victims of political oppression, who were forced to emigrate from their homeland to find a new place to live and work.
Visegrad Literary Residencies – spring edition
At the beginning of May, the spring edition of the Visegrad Literary Residencies have began. Four residents from Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland came to Villa Decius for a 6-week scholarship stay.
Interactive storytelling tools are available
We invite you to familiarize yourself with the interactive tools created during the SO-CLOSE project, which, together with the package of information and training materials, are available free of charge.
Study visit of a literary group to Villa Decius
The Senior Activity Center at Villa Decius hosted a group of literature enthusiasts from Nuremberg. The participants of the meeting discussed culture, literature and possible cooperation.

Thank you for all the applications we have received. We are pleased that over the years, the Visegrad Summer School has attracted interest, and that already in July, the next generation of participants will join the community gathered around the project.
