WIRE: Women in Resistance

The aim of the project is to popularize knowledge about the role of women in resistance movements against totalitarian regimes in Poland, Spain, Greece and Italy at different historical moments.

About the project:

The project is aimed at historians, educators and students of the humanities and includes both research and documentary, workshop and teaching activities. Project activities conducted with the participation of student groups from 4 countries in 4 educational and cultural institutions, carried out under the supervision of coordinators, will include, among others: conferences, discussion panels, educational tours, creation of educational podcasts, online exhibitions, a digital archive of biographies, and workshops on writing scripts for narrative games. The anticipated duration of project activities is two years covering both research work, development of innovative educational tools and their promotion. The project is funded by the European Union under the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) – Creativity, Citizens, EU values and Joint operations.

Goals:

The premise of the project is to develop innovative methods of teaching history using modern digital tools, specially designed memory trails or through educational workshops, and to create an international network of students, educators and history researchers as individuals with significant influence on the formation of public opinion.

Opening up to the women’s perspective in historical research and education, will create an opportunity to break conventional historical discourse and commemorate women of merit in the broader struggle for freedom, often overlooked in this discourse. It will make it possible to talk about history in a way that balances men’s and women’s perspectives, and allow aspects of history that have so far been silenced to emerge.
