Europe of Youth – Europe of Peace

The International Youth Rally Europe of the Young – Europe of Peace, organized on the centenary of the outbreak of World War I, will be a meeting of a group of young people that will create a platform of knowledge and historical reflection and will become an impulse to seek answers to the question of how young Europeans can jointly shape the future of Europe without running away. to violence and sacrifice.

In 2014, the world celebrates the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of World War I.

It was the largest armed conflict on the European continent since the Napoleonic Wars, ending with, among others, the emergence of numerous nation states in Central and Southern Europe. Many soldiers explained that the need to wage war and make sacrifices was for the good of future generations. 100 years have passed since this world tragedy and questions are being asked again whether the price of the good of future generations must be the lives and tragic deaths of others.

The international and interdisciplinary nature of the meeting will facilitate constructive dialogue, thus creating a platform for exchanging the views and experiences of young Europeans. The rally will be carried out in the form of educational and promotional study visits and is addressed to students of those European countries that participated in the fighting on the Eastern Front during World War I. The activities will be addressed to students from the following countries: Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Russia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Ukraine, Hungary, Italy. The participants of the rally will also be students from Poland representing the Jagiellonian University and the Pedagogical University of KEN in Krakow and scouts from Gorlice counties. In total, approximately 120 people will participate in the rally.

 

 

 

Event date: July 31 – August 10.

 

The organizer of the event is the Voivode of Małopolska, the Villa Decius Association, the Jagiellonian University, the Pedagogical University, and the communes of the Gorlice poviat.
