23. Polish Prize of Sérgio Vieira de Mello: Submissions

On May 1, the call for submissions for the 23rd Polish Sérgio Vieira de Mello Polish Prize opened. Applications will be accepted until June 19.

23. Nagroda De Mello

The Sérgio Vieira de Mello Polish Prize is awarded annually to individuals and non-governmental organizations with outstanding contributions to the peaceful coexistence and cooperation of societies, religions, and cultures. Laureates receive a commemorative gift, a diploma, and a financial award funded by the sponsor, ZUE Group.

To submit a nomination, please use the application form (available in Polish and English):

On June 29, the Prize Committee will convene to review the applications. The award ceremony is scheduled for the same day.

Candidates may include both individuals and institutions from Poland and abroad.

The Prize Committee includes representatives of, among others: the President of Poland, the Ambassador of Brazil, UNHCR, embassies and consulates supporting the Association’s activities, as well as the founders and initiators of the Prize — ZNAK Foundation and Willa Decjusza Association. Since 2020, the Mayor of Kraków has also been a member of the Committee.

Among previous laureates are, among others, Tadeusz Mazowiecki, the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights, Szewach Weiss, and Andrzej Poczobut. Last year’s prize was awarded to Marcelline Budza and the Asma Jahangir Legal Aid Team.
